Crowns Up!

One warm summer night, three friends sat together: thinking, hoping, scheming… They wanted to play softball but needed a team. As the ideas started pouring in, so did the questions: where are we going to play? How much is it going to be? Who do we invite? Do we make a Co-ed or an all-male team?

After the decision was made to play at Tropical they needed a name and, with the finale of HBO’s first season of True Detective still fresh in the guys’ minds, the obvious choice was going to be a homage to the series.

So the three friends went out into the world to recruit and, through shady promises of greatness and volleyball games, a ragtag group of players was put together from old friends, work colleagues and random strangers.

A team was registered in the summer of 2014… The Yellow Kings.
